The Freight Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day freight management and tracking needs for the business.  As a Freight Coordinator, the primary focus is interdepartmental communication of the status of inbound/outbound freight to ensure is customer commitments are met, while managing to minimize costs.  This individual is well versed in the ground and ocean freight markets.


  • College diploma or university degree preferably in logistics/transportation management
  • 1+ years’ work experience in logistics or similar function
  • Experience working with North American ground and ocean freight carriers
  • Capability to balance a dynamic workload, set priorities daily and maintain flexibility
  • High proficiency with Excel required, including pivot tables
  • ERP experience an asset (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tool an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Enthusiastic, positive person who embraces and facilitates change with a sense of urgency and persistence.


  • Manage status of inbound freight and bookings with ground and ocean carriers
  • Ensure accurate data management for reporting purposes
  • Communicate with Logistics team, supply chain, and all plants regarding any delays impacting customer commitments in a timely manner; contributing to mitigation solutions to ensure customer commitments are not disrupted
  • Develop recommendation for freight cost savings
  • Work closely with all freight forwarders
  • Be the first point of contact for Customer Service for order tracking, damage claims, carrier issues
  • Manage any freight related claims with carriers
